Jacob Defant (he/him), Recording Secretary

Jacob, born and raised in Sacramento, has a deep affection for our Capitol city. He earned his undergraduate degree in production agriculture at CSU Chico, where he began his political journey as a climate organizer and volunteer for multiple city council races. Since returning to Sacramento, Jacob has continued his education, earning a Master of Science in Sustainable Food Systems at Arizona State University. His passion for supporting transformational change in the way we grow, obtain, and consume our food has deepened his involvement in politics and policy here in the Farm-to-Fork Capitol of the world. 

Jacob is a highly organized and motivated individual with a passion for supporting progressive candidates and movements, which makes him a great fit for his appointment as SCYD's Recording Secretary. In his free time, he enjoys reading, hiking, and attending local live music events.
