JOIN A COMMITTEE:
SCYD members participate in a number of different committees related to a diverse array of issues and interests. Click on the graphic to email the board member in charge of the committee you’re interested in joining. They can give you details on next meeting time, overall goals and any other questions you may have. Check out our Facebook Page for updated committee event info as well.
The Membership Committee’s main charge is brainstorming and planning all social events for the club, including happy hours and other events. This committee also meets to discuss member outreach strategies and improvements.
For more information, contact VP of Membership Emmalynn Mathis @ EmmalynnAnneMathis@gmail.com
The Fundraising Committee is responsible for organizing the annual summer SCYD fundraising event and winter party, including securing community sponsorships to help maintain the fiscal health of the club. Money raised from these fundraisers helps pay for meeting space rentals, social activities, and subsidizing the costs for SCYD members to attend Democratic events across the state. The committee welcomes all levels of participation, and provides training and tools to those with varying levels of experience.
For more information, contact VP of Fundraising Sabina Nussipov @ firstname.lastname@example.org
The Political Affairs Committee handles any and all political issues and actions that SCYD may take over the course of the year. Endorsement Interviews with state and local candidates and ballot initiative proponents/opponents, planning and hosting campaign events, and stewardship of the club’s bylaws all fall under the purview of political affairs.
The Policy Committee identifies local and state policies that align with our interests as young, progressive Democrats. It aims to find ways to utilize our political voice to advance progressive change for all. The committee works with local elected officials to identify ways in which the club can support their agendas and/or improve our community.
For more information, contact Policy Director Cullen Bonaventure @ Cullen.Bonaventure@gmail.com
The Communications Committee collaborates on projects that focus on how SCYD can best communicate with our community and how we can get the word out about SCYD. We look for ways that we can share our story and engage with the public to create a more inclusive community that works for us all.

The Community Affairs Committee works as an outlet for members and nonprofit organizations to share volunteer opportunities happening across the Sacramento region. This committee also serves as a forum for discussing ways in which SCYD can uplift the needs of our local community and make a direct impact on the decisions being made.
